What Is a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)?
A Partial Hospitalization Program is the most comprehensive level of outpatient treatment. Clients attend full-day sessions, typically 5 to 6 hours per day, five days per week. These sessions include therapy, medical oversight, and skill-building, with clients returning to their home, sober living residence, or recovery housing each evening.
PHP is appropriate for those who:
- Are stepping down from inpatient or residential rehab
- Need stabilization after a recent relapse
- Are managing both addiction and a mental health disorder
- Require immersive care but cannot remain in 24-hour treatment
PHP offers the clinical intensity of inpatient care with the flexibility to begin rebuilding independent routines.
